Ecumenical Symposium on Synodality

The Synod 2021-23 will be solemnly opened by Pope Francis on October 9-10 in Rome and then in every Catholic diocese around the world on October 17. Its theme is, “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission.” In addressing the faithful in his homily on September 18, Pope Francis expressed that “this synod is not about gathering opinions but listening to the Holy Spirit."

Considering the importance of this event in the life of the Church, the Anglican Centre and the Centro Pro Unione in Rome are jointly hosting a day-long “Symposium on Synodality.” Panellists from many ecclesial traditions will explore the development, canonical dimensions, opportunities and challenges related to synodality, as well as its possible impact on Christian unity.
